Publishing means making a post visible on your channel so that others can see it.
Drafts are not visible on your channel until you publish them.
When you click "Publish" at the top right of the editor, you can set the following options.

Mark as adult content
Schedule publish time
Comment write/view permission settings

As soon as you publish, a new post notification is sent to your subscribers.

When you edit and republish a post that has already been published once, you can either keep the original publish time as "Keep" or change it to "Now," the time you republish.

Even if you republish with "Now," areas that are ordered by publish date, such as search results and subscriber new posts, will all use the original publish date.

Once a post is considered published on the server in any form, moving it to "Draft" or "Trash" and republishing, changing publish options like price or publish time, or editing the content and republishing multiple times will not send additional notifications.
